I always want to install an amateur radio in my LC, I haven't done it for 20 years. I'm sure I still remember how to do it, but can't help to worry about the electronics in the LC, power, thinking about buying a Comet antenna mount, and all the things I should do to install my radio. Dreaming about installing an HF mobile rig but it's too complicated with the antenna.

Anyway, I'd appreciate insights from people with the experience to do this.

so uou have a 20 year old land cruser that you want to fit a new radio or you havent changed a raio in 20 years? if you have an old Toyota then the change is a piece of cake just get a radio with matchin connectors

I get the hesitation, especially after 20 years and also nstalling an HF rig can be tricky, mainly because of the antenna setup. The Comet mount is a good choice, but get a stronger alternator

No, man. I have a 2023 Landcruise, but I haven't installed any amateur radio after my old car 20 years ago

Not the commenter but thanks for clarifying. I think it's much easier to get a radio installed for the new ones. But if you really need help then better to bring it to the dealer instead! For radios nowadays I think it's just plug and play anyway.

Where are you going to get your power from? And don't those low band antenna have a mounting bracket? I know I've seen old cars with those long antennas on the back bumper. But bumpers have changed a lot since the old cars.
